Acadio lets you add custom messaging throughout the course experience, with support for HTML, media, and more.

Follow the steps below to add custom messages or notifications to your course: 

  1. Navigate to the course where you want to add messaging.

  2. Select Settings from the course menu.

  3. Then, select the Language tab.

  4. Click into any of the text areas to edit the message:
    • Landing Page notification
    • Course Completion message
    • Activity Access Delayed message
    • Completion Required message
    • Requires Purchase message
    • Custom menu items

      Examples of each message type are shown in the next section below.

  5. When finished adding your messaging, click the Save button.

Examples

Below is an example of a Landing Page Notification. The content is displayed above the course cover image on the landing page. The notification area can also be styled with HTML and accept images. The minimum recommended width for images embedded in this area, as well as the Dashboard notification area, is 1100px. 

 

Below is an example of a Course Completion Message. This message is displayed to students upon completion of a certification or training course. 

Below is an example of what a Purchase Path message looks like for students. A Purchase Path message appears when students lack credit to access a course or activity. You can pair it with a custom Purchase Button and URL to direct them to your store or support page. Purchase Paths can be set at the course level (showing a unique message for that course) or at the platform level (showing the same message across all courses). To configure a platform-level Purchase Path, go to Settings > Language > Purchase Path.

Below is an example of a Requires Completion message, which is displayed to students if they navigate away from the final activity in the course. 

Custom menu items

Custom links can be added to the course navigation menu for students. Some possible uses for custom links include a link to an external resource or to the online store where additional courses can be purchased. 

Follow the steps below to add a custom item to the course menu: 

  1. Visit http://icon-sets.iconify.design and select an icon.

  2. Click the icon and use the Icon drop-down menu to select Iconify Icon. Next, copy the icon name. Then, paste it into the Icon field in Acadio.



  3. Enter the name of the menu item in the Display Text field. This will be displayed to students in the menu, along with the selected icon. 

  4. Enter the destination for the menu item in the URL field. The URL can point to any external address, or to a custom page hosted on Acadio. See this related article Custom Pages and Menu Items
