Acadio allows you to add custom messaging to various areas within the course experience. These messages can include links, images, videos, documents, and more. 

Custom messages can be displayed on the landing page, in a modal upon course completion, and whenever a student does not have access to a course or parts of a course. 

Follow the steps below to add custom messages or notifications to your course: 

  1. Navigate to the course where you want to add messaging.
  2. Select Settings from the course menu.
  3. Then, select the Language tab.
  4. Click into any of the text areas to edit.
    • Landing page notification
    • Course completion message
    • Requires purchase message
    • Custom menu items
  5. When finished adding your messaging, click the Save button.

Below is an example of a Landing Page Notification. The message is displayed above the course cover image on the landing page.

Purchase Path message can be displayed when students lack credit to access a course or parts of a course. This message can be coupled with a custom Purchase Button and Purchase Path URL to direct students back to your online store or support area. Purchase paths configured on the course level display a unique message when a student is in that course and lacks a credit to access activities. Purchase paths can also be configured on the platform level to display the same message to all students who lack a credit to access activities, regardless of which course they are in. To configure a purchase path on the platform level, select Settings from the main menu and then select Language>Purchase Path

Custom menu items

Custom links can be added to the course navigation menu for students. Some possible uses for custom links include a link to an external resource or to the online store where additional courses can be purchased. 

Follow the steps below to add a custom item to the course menu: 

  1. Visit http://icon-sets.iconify.design and select an icon.
  2. Click the icon and use the Icon drop-down menu to select Iconify Icon. Next, copy the icon name. Then, paste it into the Icon field in Acadio.



  3. Enter the name of the menu item in the Display Text field. This will be displayed to students in the menu, along with the selected icon. 
  4. Enter the destination for the menu item in the URL field. The URL can point to any external address, or to a custom page hosted on Acadio. See this related article Custom Pages and Menu Items
