This checklist is a helpful tool for ensuring your course is set up and ready for students to begin. While it covers many common elements and setup tasks, it’s not exhaustive—every course can have unique configurations and variables. The best way to confirm everything is working as expected is to go through the course yourself as a student.

1

Course landing page

The course landing page should include a cover page, a description or overview of the course, learning objectives, and any other relevant information students should know prior to launching the course.

2

Course curriculum

The course curriculum should contain the sections and activities students will need to complete. Check the structure and organization of your curriculum to ensure that students will be seeing the material in the desired sequence.

3

Learning Activities

All activities in the curriculum should contain content, have an estimated completion time, be published, and set to Active status. Students cannot see activities that are not published or set to inactive status. Exam and quizzes should be configured for the desired experience, including passing scores, reattempts, question order, and review options. Exams and quizzes should also have questions assigned to them and question pools correctly configured, if being utilized.

4

Course apps

Course apps, such as flashcards, study bank, community, or submissions, for the student experience should be enabled and configured via course Settings > Apps.

5

Course Experience

The course experience should be configured via course Settings > Options. This includes settings such as linear progression, periodic authentication, inactivity timeouts, the retake schedule, and more. If a retake schedule is configured, ensure that exams are also configured to allow retakes.

6

Organizations & certificates

If the course is reportable to a regulator or governing body, an organization should be configured and assigned to the course. The organizations app should also be enabled for the course. Check the organization certificate to ensure it meets the regulator's requirements. Add custom fields to the end-of-course reporting workflow, if needed.

If the course is not reportable, but students should still receive a certificate, ensure the Certificate app is enabled on the course and the certificate is configured to your liking.

7

Catalog Listing

The catalog listing criteria should be configured via course Settings > Catalog Listing to allow students and admins to easily find courses. Add an optional description that will be displayed below the course cover image in the library.

8

Course Status & Visibility

The course status should be set to Active via course Settings > Status. Check the course visibility and confirm it is configured to display courses as desired.

9

Credit assignment

The course should be assigned to an active credit via course Settings > Credits. Configure the credit for full or partial access. Set an expiration date, quantity, or time in days for the credit, if needed. If students will enroll via a purchase from your webstore, ensure your e-commerce solution is connected to Acadio and the product is assigned to the correct credit.

10

Complete the course as a student

The most reliable way to ensure everything functions correctly is to experience the course firsthand as a student. Assign the credit to yourself and log into the student portal to complete it. Pay extra attention to the end-of-course experience.
