To enable Flashcards for a course, select Settings from the course navigation menu and click the Apps tab. Then, click the Install App button on the Flashcards tile. Next, click the Add Shortcut button when asked to add a shortcut to the course navigation menu.
Enabling the Flashcards app also allows students to create their own flashcards as they complete course activities. Flashcards created by a student are only visible to that student and are added to the admin-created deck of flashcards.
Creating flashcards
Follow the steps below to create a new flashcard:
- Navigate to the course and select Flashcards from the course navigation menu.
- Click the Create Flashcard button in the top right corner.
- Enter the content for the front and back of the card. The back can include media such as images, videos, tables, or links to external resources.
- You can choose a color for the flashcard or keep the default gray color. Many users assign colors based on the card's difficulty level to guide students (e.g. red for difficult, yellow for intermediate, and green for easy.) Students can also assign colors to flashcards.
- Next, map your flashcards to a learning activity under Related Content. This ensures related flashcards are available in the drawer alongside the connected learning activity. Unmapped flashcards will only be available to students when studying in the main flashcards area of the platform, accessible by selecting Flashcards from the course navigation menu.
- Toggle the Publish Flashcard switch to make it available to students immediately after saving.
- When finished, click the Save button.
Use the search bar to locate Flashcards using keywords. Additionally, Flashcards can be filtered by the following criteria:
- Course - display flashcards from all courses on the platform or from specific courses
- Color- display flashcards of a specific color
- Related Activities- display flashcards assigned to specific activities
- Status - display flashcards with active or inactive status
- Flashcard ID - display flashcards matching specific IDs. Multiple IDs can be entered into the field simultaneously, separated by commas
