Custom activities can be used to embed HTML interactive elements and external resources. Examples of custom activity use cases include:

  • Interactive learning activities such as crossword puzzles or matching exercises
  • Hosted slideshows & PowerPoint presentations
  • Important events & training calendars
  • Embedded animations
  • Embedded forms
  • Embedded iframe content
  • Hosted audio or video media
  • Hosted digital books

Follow the steps below to add a Custom activity to the curriculum:

  1. Navigate to the course you wish to build and select Curriculum from the course navigation.
  2. Click the + below the list of Curriculum items to add a new activity to the end of the course. Use the + to the right of the list of Curriculum items to add a new activity below the currently selected item or within the current section. Then, select Custom from the available activities menu.
  3. Click the new custom activity to edit it.
  4. Enter the HTML snippet into the HTML Content field.
  5. Add a title for the new custom activity. You can also add an optional introduction and estimated completion time.
  6. When finished, click Save and publish your activity.

TIP: While many of the use cases listed above are best handled using native Acadio functionality, custom activities allow for a greater level of customization and more control over the student experience.
