To configure course access, select Settings from the course menu and click the Status tab.

Student access to a course depends on its Course Status, Course Visibility, and any Credits to which the course is assigned.

Course Status

  • Active - Use this status when a course is ready for students.
  • Inactive - Use this status when a course is still under development and not ready for students.
  • Archived - Use this status to make a course unavailable to admins and students. For admins, the course will be removed from the Active tab and accessible from the Archived tab on the Manage Courses screen.

Course Visibility

Course Visibility determines if students can see the course in their library/available courses.

Courses set to Public are visible to all students on the platform, even if they do not have a credit granting them access to the activities within the course. Students without credit for the course can see the course in their library, view the course landing page, and see the course outline, but they are not able to access the learning activities. Instead, they will be redirected to purchase or request access using a Purchase Path. Purchase paths can be set on the platform level (displaying the same path for all students) by navigating to Settings>Credits. Purchase paths can also be set on the course level (displaying a unique purchase path for each course) by navigating to the Course Settings>Language.

Making courses Public allows students to preview the curriculum of a course. This can be helpful for students who are trying to decide which courses to take. Courses set to Private are only visible to students with credit to the course.
