Course retakes can be configured by navigating to Settings on the course navigation menu and selecting Options. By default, once a course is completed, a student will not be able to retake it and receive completion credit again. However, the course retake setting allows students to retake a previously completed course after a blackout period. When a course becomes available for a student to retake, all previous progress and completion data is reset.

The blackout period for a course retake can be set in a number of days or within the same calendar year (e.g., the student would not be permitted to retake the course until the next calendar year.)

IMPORTANT: When configuring course retakes and limiting exam attempts, setting the exam Reset Attempts duration to be less than or equal to the course retake period is imperative. For instance, if the course should allow a retake 180 days after a student completes it, you should first configure the course retake schedule and set the duration to 180 days (Course Settings>Options>Course Experience). Next, specify the maximum number of exam attempts. Then, set the exam Reset Attempts duration to 180 days, ensuring that both the exam attempts and the course reset simultaneously.
